This role is responsible for supporting the organization in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, particularly within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring regulatory obligations, supporting compliance initiatives, managing regulatory documentation, and contributing to the implementation of compliance-related action plans.
The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with experience in regulated financial institutions and a strong understanding of banking regulations, financial supervision frameworks, and compliance requirements established by financial regulatory authorities.
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring
- Support the monitoring and assessment of compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, document, and escalate potential compliance gaps, regulatory risks, or areas requiring remediation.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance matrices, regulatory inventories, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Contribute to the preparation of compliance indicators, reports, and management information for internal stakeholders.
Regulatory Documentation & Governance
- Support the review, organization, maintenance, and control of documentation related to regulatory obligations and internal policies.
- Ensure accurate filing and retention of regulatory records and supporting evidence.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal governance frameworks and compliance procedures.
- Support updates to policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation as required.
Regulatory Audits & Inspections
- Assist in gathering, validating, and analyzing information required for regulatory inspections, audits, and internal reviews.
- Coordinate responses to requests from regulatory authorities and internal control functions.
- Support the preparation of reports and documentation required during supervisory reviews and examinations.
- Monitor and track remediation activities resulting from audit findings or regulatory reviews.
Regulatory Change Management
- Participate in the monitoring of regulatory developments affecting the organization.
- Support the implementation of action plans related to new regulations, regulatory changes, and compliance initiatives.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding regulatory requirements and their operational impact.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the compliance and regulatory function.
Risk Management & Internal Policies
- Comply with the Code of Conduct and all applicable internal policies.
- Support adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), risk management, and compliance programs.
- Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and regulatory compliance across the organization.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent).
- Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction is preferred.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in legal, regulatory compliance, or regulatory advisory roles.
- Previous experience within regulated financial institutions, such as:
- Banks
- Financial leasing companies
- Trust/Fiduciary companies
- Other entities supervised by financial regulators
- Solid knowledge of financial services regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, and regulatory assessments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements issued by financial supervisory authorities (e.g., Banking and Insurance Superintendencies or equivalent regulators).
Languages
- Intermediate to Advanced English (written and verbal).
