Discover the Role

The Assistant Manager, Fund Accounting for Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) Category 1 & 2 will be responsible for overseeing the fund accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role involves managing a team of fund accountants, working closely with stakeholders, and providing clients with seamless services related to fund operations and financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Fund Accounting Process Management:

    • Oversee the full fund accounting lifecycle for AIFs (Category 1 & 2), ensuring all processes are in line with regulatory standards.
    • Review daily, monthly, and quarterly NAV (Net Asset Value) calculations and ensure that all accounting records and financial statements are accurate and timely.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, fund structures, and legal/regulatory requirements for AIFs.
    • Manage cash and position reconciliations and ensure accurate valuation of assets and liabilities.
  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of fund accountants, providing coaching and development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Conduct performance reviews and ensure ongoing training to keep the team updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Stakeholder and Client Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery and addressing any inquiries or issues.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with other internal teams such as operations, compliance, and investment management to ensure smooth fund operations.
  • Reporting and Compliance:

    • Review and sign-off on financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and other fund performance metrics.
    • Prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, ensuring that they comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Assist in regulatory filings and audits as required.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Continuously evaluate and improve fund accounting processes, workflows, and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Implement best practices in fund accounting and contribute to the development of new processes as necessary.

Key requirements

Degree holder in Accountancy or business related disciplines Candidate with similar previous experience Resourceful, independent and strong problem-solving abilities Excellent written and communication skills, with strong ability to plan ahead and organise themselves Analytical structured mind set with ability to follow and build upon existing processes and ensure data is maintained with accuracy and consistency Fluency in English is preferred Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is essential, with experience of local accounting system desirable
