The Junior Legal Counsel plays a role in enhancing the second line functionality of TMF’s Global Legal Function by connecting with the group stakeholders, understanding and addressing the legal needs, achieving Global Legal priorities & objectives, and managing legal risks in accordance with the group risk appetite.

In the role of Junior Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Group General Counsel and work closely with the group stakeholders and local management. You will be part of our Group and Global Legal Function, which is a centralised global function delivering efficient high-quality legal solutions and provides assurance on the oversight and control of legal risks throughout TMF Group. We are developing from a classic service delivery model to partnering with the business, supporting, and ensuring long-term continuity and compliance with local laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, negotiate and review, (restructuring) agreements, powers of attorney and other legal documents in close collaboration with the Head of Legal – Corporate and local management.
  • Monitor updates in laws and regulations which may have direct impact on the business and operations.
  • Support the Group General Counsel with claims and external legal spend management.
  • Support with the corporate housekeeping of the group structure.
  • Support the Group General Counsel the effective implementation and execution of Group-wide (ad hoc) initiatives, independently managing and taking ownership of assigned projects as needed. Establish and maintain positive relationship with the various stakeholders within TMF Group.
  • Work together with other stakeholders within the Global Legal Function to ensure delivery of the Global Legal Function’s projects and priorities.
  • Conduct regular internal audits on the implementation of executed projects, report findings to Group General Counsel, and implement measures jointly with the local team to enhance 100% compliance. Draft, update, and maintain performance (Excel-)overviews for a variety of projects, continuously improving these overviews to enhance clarity and effectiveness.

Key Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer with 3 - 5 years’ relevant work experience 
  • A serious interest in corporate law and contract law, who is self-confident and who’s at his/her best working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong ambition to develop him or herself in an international corporate environment.
  • Experience in legal drafting, contract negotiation and corporate matters.
  • Have knowledge of corporate law and contracting law. 
  • Have affinity with financial and administrative services.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English
  • With demonstrated experience in and capability of working collaboratively across departments, time zones and cultures.
  • Understand the business needs and the importance of legal risk management; able to integrate legal risk management and legal service delivery smoothly in daily legal activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to reach consensus with diverse and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills.
  • Organized; able to work on diverse large workload and handle competing priorities.
  • Able to articulate challenging strategic visions and increase engagement to achieve targets.
  • Strive for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
