Support the payroll teams in the provision of a high quality client service, producing service deliverables for a portfolio of clients. This will include the preparation of data, assisting in payroll client administration, acting as the day to day client contact for the provision of those services, to meet stakeholders' and client expectations.
1. Strategy
1.1. Understand the importance of revenue, productivity, chargeability and the client relationship and effectively apply this understanding to daily tasks.
2. Operations
2.1. Responsible for delivering specified deliverables, (see below) to clients in accordance with internal and external deadlines
2.2. Ensure appropriate controls, policies, processes and procedures are adhered to
2.3. Create and maintain relevant records
2.4. Escalate client/work issues to Supervisor/Manager
2.5. Assist other members of the team as appropriate
2.6. Collect appropriate data from clients and input into database as required
2.7. Report to senior team members and/ or managers as required
2.8. Answer questions in a timely manner
2.9. Various other miscellaneous tasks as instructed from time to time
3. Client service
3.1. Support clients with service delivery matters
3.2. Attend client meetings, as required
3.3. Prepare client work in accordance with procedures
3.4. Work with clients to ensure required data is received in good time
3.5. Prepare and submit approved returns, submissions, accounts, reports etc. as applicable
4. Financial and commercial management
4.1. Support clients with service delivery matters
4.2. Attend client meetings, as required

5. Technical Expertise
5.1. Liaise with tax authorities and other TMF offices on technical issues
5.2. Use specific software programs and maintain databases as required
5.3. Develop technical knowledge through reading and attendance at appropriate (internal and external) training courses, seminars, etc.
6. Team-based responsibilities (tbc Team leaders)
6.1. Set up and maintain computerized payroll databases
6.2. Inputting information into the payroll system
6.3. Review, test and reconcile the work and data received from clients/ third parties
6.4. Assist with statutory fillings and reporting, including EMP201 and EMP501
6.5. Support the Tax Officer with ad hoc SARS requests
6.6. Assist senior team members and finance team with recovery of debt.
6.7. Perform any other reasonable assignment requested by management
6.8. Personal utilization of 90% - whereby 90% of hours are aligned to client work and service delivery
1. 1+ years full payroll administration experience and studying towards a recognized payroll or commercial qualification
2. Understand basic payroll processing, deductions and regulatory submissions
3. Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
4. Working experience with payroll/HR software
5. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
6. Strong attention to detail, coordination and organizational skills
7. Other characteristics: accurate, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
