Discover the Role
The Lead Data Engineer role is for an experienced professional (7+ years) who can own end‑to‑end delivery of complex data systems, lead teams, and drive technical strategy. This role focuses on advanced SQL development, database architecture, system performance, automation, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders. You will guide junior/senior developers, influence technical decisions, and ensure high‑quality, scalable, and secure data solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead end‑to‑end development: requirements, design, build, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Mentor and guide senior and junior developers.
  • Drive best practices, code quality, and architectural standards.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance systems.

Database & SQL Expertise

  • Deep experience in SQL procedures, functions, and performance optimization.
  • Design and develop complex SQL queries for business operations.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and optimize database performance.
  • Manage database architecture and contribute to data warehousing initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced database issues.

Technical Delivery

  • Produce technical specifications and architecture documentation.
  • Write, review, and optimize clean, maintainable code.
  • Automate processes using Python or R.
  • Define architecture and resolve complex system issues for medium-to-large projects.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with application developers, analysts, and clients.
  • Gather and translate business/technical requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Support cross-functional teams in data analytics initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and training on BI tools like Power BI, Qlik Sense, or MSTR.

Key Requirements

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS / IT / Data Science or related field.
  • 5–7+ years hands-on experience in SQL development, data engineering, or related fields.
  • Proven experience leading or contributing to enterprise‑level solutions.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database development.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes.
  • Experience with Python, R, or JavaScript for automation.
  • Experience with SSRS, SSAS, TDE.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL / NewSQL databases.
  • Experience working with large Excel data sets.
  • Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense, MSTR).
