Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and empower a large payroll team (30+ employees) to deliver high-quality services
  • Oversee daily operations, planning, and prioritisation to ensure efficient and accurate payroll delivery
  • Act as subject matter expert for German/Austrian payroll, supporting complex cases and escalations
  • Manage client relationships, represent the function, and handle service discussions and escalations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize processes and delivery models
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional and international projects, including onboarding of new clients
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and risk frameworks
  • Oversee performance management, coaching, and career development within the team

Key Requirements
  • 10+ years of payroll experience, ideally in Germany or Austria
  • Proven experience managing large teams (30+)
  • Strong expertise in end-to-end payroll processes and compliance
  • Experience in client-facing roles, including negotiations and escalation handling
  • Ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in training, coaching, and developing teams
  • Fluency in German (C1) and English (C1)
  • Strong analytical thinking and commercial mindset
