The Property Accounting Manager will oversee the financial reporting, accounting operations, property operations (invoicing and expense payment process), and client support for a portfolio of real estate assets. This role ensures accurate and timely preparation of property-level accounting closing, manages a team of accountants, and supports asset management, property management, Treasury and client’s accounting team. The Property Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with IFRS, and driving process improvements.
Lead the property accounting team in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting package for a portfolio of real estate assets.
• Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Lead the review of property budgets, estimations, and variance analyses.
• Manage the preparation of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, property tax accruals/payments, and other recoverable expenses.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including performance reviews and training.
• Implement and improve accounting policies, procedures, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist client with special projects such as acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and system implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and real estate/property accounting practices.
• Experience with CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and property-level financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and strong Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across departments.
