Discover the Role

As General Ledger Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in our accounting team for Capital Markets, Private Equity and Real Estate clients. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reports and ensuring full compliance with HGB, IFRS and relevant local standards. In collaboration with the team leader, you will help to manage a team of accountants, ensuring they are well trained and motivated to deliver excellent client service and outputs. You will ensure all tasks are appropriately allocated across your collaborators to meet deadlines and client’s expectations


Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with German Commercial Code (HGB) and IFRS 
  • Prepare, post and review journal entries ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (HGB / IFRS) focus on fixed and financial assets, equity, accruals and provisions, shareholders and external loans 
  • Integration (onboarding) of new companies (Special Purpose Vehicles) including review of legal documents (contracts)
  • Reconcile, analyze, validate and upload financial data (e.g. tenant accounting)
  • Produce ad hoc reports as required by client 
  • Manage own deliveries and monitoring payments
  • Complete monthly or quarterly VAT returns and Bundesbank reports / statistics
  • Train and develop accounting staff, providing performance feedback and support
  • Delegate tasks for development purposes and provide appropriate support and supervision 
  • Aim efficiency, automation and productivity by implementing the best accounting practices and improving the workflows and processes
  • Collaborate and communicate with customers, other departments and team members, banks, auditors, lawyers and tax advisors 

Key Requirements
  • University degree with a focus on accounting / finance / tax or completed training as a certified public accountant (IHK)
  • 4 -5 years of practical professional experience as a general ledger accountant, ideally with an international audit firm (accounting department), private equity firm, or asset and investment management firm 
  • Experience in the accounting of special purpose vehicles (investment accounting) is a plus, well-versed and experienced in German Commercial Code (HGB) is a must, IFRS knowledge desirable
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Solution-oriented, team-oriented, and service-oriented 
  • Proficient in common IT applications for financial accounting (DATEV, SAP, MS Office)
