This is a temporary contract of 12 months and SAGE 300 knowledge is required.
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing payroll administration and delivering high-quality client services while achieving revenue targets and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. The role involves supervising payroll-related activities, optimizing procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and adopting best practices to align with corporate goals.
- Understand and apply concepts of revenue generation, productivity, and client relationships in daily operations.
- Execute routine administrative tasks, including payroll capture, workflows, leave management, benefit administration, and related processes.
- Ensure controls are in place for payroll processing and third-party payments.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, taxation, and benefit administration.
- Process monthly payrolls for all employees and contract types while ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Manage payroll changes such as transfers, promotions, salary raises, overtime, bonuses, and severance packages.
- Verify and process payroll checklists and ensure compliance with ISAE standards.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll accounts and monthly payment schedules.
- Produce and submit payroll reports, SARS filings (e.g., IRP5, EMP201), and statutory submissions.
- Maintain payroll records, personnel files, and systems for optimized workflows and accessibility.
- Train and assist Junior Administrators on payroll systems and processes, resolve inquiries, and support benefit administration.
- Facilitate audits and prepare required documentation for compliance visits.
- Respond to client inquiries within a 4-hour turnaround.
- Prepare and submit returns, reports, and submissions for clients as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships by attending client meetings and ensuring timely data acquisition.
- Support clients in resolving service delivery matters aligned with procedures and deadlines.
- Aid with debt recovery and ensure proper financial reporting.
- Liaise with tax authorities and other offices on technical matters.
- Support data evaluation, variance analysis, and KYC (Know Your Client) matters during system implementations.
- 4+ years full payroll administration experience
- Payroll Diploma or Finance Degree
- Solid/Advance knowledge payroll processing, deductions and regulatory submissions
- Advanced level of Computer literacy (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Working experience with Payroll/HR software (SAGE 300 People)
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Other characteristics: accurate, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team, attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong leader, team player, energetic, self-motivated and assertive
- Strong analytical minded, problem solving orientated and extremely accurate
- In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculations and processing
