TMF Group Australia is looking for a Tax Team Lead, to join the team!
- Review and/or preparation of income tax returns for trusts, companies, individuals and managed funds
- Assist with restructure of Tax Team into separate Funds and Corporate streams
- Review and/or preparation of tax distribution calculations for managed funds and property trusts, including identifying and appropriately dealing with tax risk areas such as MIT, AMIT, TOFA, WHT, AIIR etc.
- Preparation and/or review of Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting files
- Review of FBT returns for entities of varying sizes, including those with complex employee benefits packages
- Provide support to other teams in resolving tax queries, including conducting research and applying the relevant legislation and tax rulings as required
- Preparation of written tax guidance memorandums with the support of the Tax Manager
- Managing the tax lodgement list for the firm and ensuring timely and accurate lodgement of all tax returns and FBT returns to the ATO to ensure ATO-prescribed on time lodgement percentage is achieved or exceeded.
- Provide tax support to Nominated Public Officers and review/conduct sanity checks on tax related documents prepared by external tax agents
- Manage the preparation and updating of tax checklists and workpapers, and make suggestions for improvement on current control procedures
- Train and mentor Tax Seniors and junior staff on their work and career progression; specific training on preparation of tax and FBT returns, distribution calculations, CbC reporting, as well as resolving tax queries raised by clients
- Actively seek and pursue Business Development (BD) opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationship with internal/external stakeholders
- Over see Fund Division delivery to :
- IAS and BAS returns
- FATCA Reporting
- AIIR Reporting
- FIRB ongoing reporting requirements
- Liaise with The Australian Taxation Office, clients, auditors and banks, and escalate to Senior Management as appropriate
- Act as Public Officer on client account
- Maintain strong relationship with clients and understand their needs
- Maintain/approve timesheets
- Ad hoc duties as and when required
- Degree holder with recognized accounting qualification or business-related disciplines
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in CA/CPA firms or multinational companies with significant taxation responsibilities
- Completed professional qualifications in CA or CPA
- Registered Tax agent
- Advanced Microsoft Office application (advanced Excel a must)
- Strong knowledge of widely used accounting systems (e.g. MYOB, XERO)
