The Senior AML/KYC Officer plays a critical role in ensuring effective execution, quality, and regulatory compliance of AML/KYC activities within Shareholder Services. The role requires a highly experienced and technically strong AML/KYC professional who can act as a subject‑matter expert, support the supervisor in daily operations, manage complex cases, and provide guidance to the wider team in a demanding regulatory environment.
- Perform and oversee AML/KYC reviews for onboarding, periodic and event‑driven reviews, including complex and high‑risk cases (e.g. PEPs, complex ownership structures, alternative investment vehicles).
- Act as a senior escalation point for Officers, providing sound judgement, documented decision‑making, and clear rationale in line with regulatory expectations.
- Provide strong day‑to‑day support to the Supervisor, including workload prioritisation, quality oversight, issue resolution, and cover when required.
- Ensure consistent application of CSSF regulations, internal AML/KYC policies, and risk‑based approaches.
- Review, challenge, and approve AML/KYC files prepared by team members, ensuring quality, completeness, and timeliness.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews, including preparation of documentation, responses, and follow‑up actions.
- Act as a key contributor during process changes, remediation initiatives, and system implementations, providing senior input and guidance.
- Proactively identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities within AML/KYC processes and escalate appropriately.
- Coach, mentor, and guide colleagues, contributing to team capability, consistency, and resilience.
- University degree and/or a minimum of 5+ years of solid AML/KYC experience within the Luxembourg financial industry.
- Knowledge of Luxembourg fund legal structures.
- Deep practical and technical knowledge of AML/KYC requirements, including CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, PEP assessments, beneficial ownership analysis, and complex investor structures.
- Strong understanding of Luxembourg AML regulatory framework and CSSF expectations.
- Ability to work autonomously in a high‑pressure environment while maintaining high quality standards.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with team members, Compliance, external, and internal stakeholders.
- ACAMS (CAMS) certification considered an advantage.
- Additional AML or regulatory certifications considered an advantage.
- Fluent in English; fluency in another European language is considered an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel eg pivot tables, Vlookup, Word, etc.)
